Marine Conservation

Since 2008 OceansWatch have visited many communities in Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands working in partnership with them to monitor the health of the coral reefs, mangroves and seagrass and enabling them to care for their marine resources.

Please find below our projects that we work on to do with marine conservation.

Marine Monitoring Toolkit Vanuatu - Presented at Climate Change Conference

Community engagement, participation and empowerment are key to successful adaptation actions at the local level. A novel marine monitoring toolkit has been developed with the participation of community resource monitors to inform local action and management. It has been piloted in North Efate, Vanuatu to allow communities to take ownership of monitoring their marine resources.

Marine Report 2016

OceansWatch (OW) has been coming to Vanuatu since 2008 and has carried out work throughout the country from Efate, Malekula, Epi to Espirito Santo to Gaua and Vanua Lava. Primarily work has been carried out in the more isolated communities where other Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) have not been able to access.
