OceansWatch Solomon Islands was established to work in the remote coastal communities of the Solomon Islands to promote interest in the sustainable management of their resources.
The primary objects and purposes for which OceansWatch Solomon Islands was established are as follows:
The preservation and maintenance of coastal areas and marine resources in the Solomon Islands
To assist in the sustainable development of the economy of coastal communities in the Solomon Islands.
To provide humanitarian assistance to coastal communities in the Solomon Islands. The relief of hunger, poverty or sickness in coastal communities in the Solomon Islands.
To improve access for children to primary education in coastal communities of Solomon Islands.
Secondary Objectives:
The secondary objects and purposes for which OceansWatch Solomon Islands is established are:
To educate coastal communities in the Solomon Islands in the sustainable management of their marine resources.
To support marine research in the Solomon Islands where the results of the research will be freely disseminated to others and shall positively impact the conservation of marine resources.
The protection of the marine environment in the Solomon Islands including the preservation of reefs, marine animals and plants.
To promote and support efforts of coastal communities in the Solomon Islands to ameliorate the impact of climate change.
To foster, promote and increase the interest of people in the Solomon Islands (including the visiting yachting community) in marine conservation.
